What does Geykido Comet mean?
Geykido is the English spelling of the Japanese word meaning "ultimate
anger." Therefore, the name roughly translates to Angry Comet Records.
When was GC born?
We first started working on the label in December 1998. Our first release
(the now out-of-print Intro5pect s/t 7") came out in January 1999.
Why do I need to supply my phone number and e-mail address when
I place my order?
This will allow us to contact you should any questions/concerns arise
with your order.
Am I responsible for figuring out tax and shipping cost for my
order?
If you live within the U.S., then no. But if you are lucky enough to live
outside of the U.S., shipping charges do apply.
How will my order be shipped?
In-stock items are shipped via 1st class ground service direct from our
office.
I can't find one of your releases at my favorite record store,
what do I do?
We'd suggest you do a mail or online order. It's cheap, easy and efficient.
Will you sign my band?
Well, we don't "sign" any bands. We do put out CDs and records
though!! We mostly release records by our friends or their friends (as
do many
indie labels) when and if we have the money to do so -- "when and
if" being the key phrase. The chances of us putting out your record
are less than your chances of becoming a millionaire rockstar. You'd be
doing yourself a great service by putting out your own record anyway,
at your own pace, with your own rules.
Will you listen to my band's MP3s?
Uh, we wouldn't bet money on it...
Have you ever released anything by a band who sent in a demo?
We'd be lying if we said no. Not only were these bands good at proving
themselves self-sufficient, their demos blew us away: Peelander-Z, East
Arcadia, Pornshot, Jack Killed Jill, Bobot Adrenaline and Four Deadly
Questions.
Can you answer a question about one of the bands on your label
for me?
Maybe... you can send us an e-mail (but please realize that your email
might sit in our inbox for a while before we find out the answer) or you
can try e-mailing the band directly. They're not asshole rock stars (i.e.
they are approachable) and will probably give a much more detailed answer
to your question. But if you can't find the band's contact information,
chances are they have broken up, so just e-mail us.
How can I get an interview with one of the bands on your label?
E-mail or write to the band directly. Everybody loves mail!
How can I book a show for/with one of the bands on your label?
Just get in touch with the band. We don't handle booking. The bands are
much better at that than we are.
Do you sell t-shirts for the bands on your label?
Like booking shows, all merch is handled by the bands. Go see them on
tour and buy the shirt there, along with some cool music. You'll have
fun while helping them fill their gas tank!
I wanna use a song off one of your releases for my comp/documentary/art
project, how does that work?
Please e-mail us with details and we'll get back to you.
Do you have a street team?
Nope. But if you really want to help us, please support our bands, buy
our releases and tell all of your friends about us, what we do and why
you think GC is the most wonderful thing in the world.
Can I link www.gcrecords.com on my web site?
Sure! It would be much appreciated!
