Bad Phantom
Founded in 2017, Bad Phantom features musicians in a collaborative effort to make original and modernized rock music. All four members of the group had previously played and toured together in the Las Vegas group Shayna Rain, but decided to take the Shayna Rain sound in a totally new direction. With a luscious layer of vocal reverberation and harmony, Shayna Rain Mercer is still the band’s sole vocalist, but has beautifully integrated a dynamic range of vocal effects and harmony reminiscent of Bon Iver or Imogen Heap, and has not lost her penchant for writing soulful and catchy melodies. With a unique and elegant guitar styling Richie Dallaire is a jazz guitarist who dabbles in blues and rock. The smooth and fluid nature of Mercer and Dallaire is contrasted by the hard hitting and groovy rhythm section of Nick Strader (drums) and Nick Boswell (bass). The group’s sound travels between indie, jazz, experimental, post-rock and pop.
