Amish Electric Chair

THE ANSWER LIES
Formed in early 2003, The Answer Lies took it upon themselves
to combat a stagnant local Las Cruces, NM music scene. A scene
which, for too long, had been doomed to mediocrity and plagued
by cheesy ska bands and second-rate cover bands with a total
disregard for anyone under the legal drinking age. Yummy DIY
desert-bred punk rock, nothing more, nothing less.

Black Sparrow Press
Take a hopeless romantic and sit him at a bar, give him round after round of double whiskey shots until he's slurring along with the jukebox. Multiply this by four and you have Black Sparrow Press from San Pedro, CA. If Charles Bukowski started a band it'd sound something like this. We are BEAT PUNKS!

open the eyes of the American youth with socially-conscious
and politically-charged punk rock!

Buck
Once Vancouver's pop trio Cub was laid to rest, bassist/vocalist
Lisa Marr unleashed Buck. The band contributed to several compilations
and released numerous 7-inch records and spent a lot of time
on the road touring with The Muffs, Mr. T Experience, The Queers
and The Groovie Ghoulies.
GC's limited edition collector 7-inch consists of the last
two remaining unreleased tracks from the band. Both were produced
by Jeff McDonald of Redd Kross fame and feature Charlotte Caffey
from the Go-Go's on backup vocals.

Deadman Walking
Deadman Walking, the monster child of longtime friends, began
life as a small collaboration with the lofty goal of putting
an edge of darkness and energy back into rock-and-roll. All
it takes is one show to become aware that this band's music,
emotion and pure destructive noise is enough to get your heart
racing, scare the status quo and electrify the dead. The speed
of skate punk melted into the darkness of early 80s rock.

East Arcadia
When GC first received East Arcadia's demo, we were so amazed
by the young band's talent that we quickly pressed a four-song
7" (with 300 on limited-edition green vinyl). Think Strike
Anywhere's intellect, D4's brutal honesty and Rise Against's
hardcore edge in a band of almost twenty-somethings.

Enemy You
San Francisco's Enemy You are known for their straightforward
melodic hardcore mixed with in-your-face pop punk. Enemy You's
80's-themed 7" on GC is totally tubular, dude! Get your
Atari system out of the closet and party like it's 1985!

ESL
From the time they self-released a demo cassette back in '94
until they disbanded in 2002 ESL rocked harder than any other
band in southern California.Their music mixed pop-punk melodies,
a dash of social commentary and a smidgen of hardcore. Amazing
stuff.

Exfork
As described by Maximumrocknroll, and the OC Weekly, EXFORK
was one of the most underrated bands in its genre. Mixing punk,
noise and metal, these Southern California natives created a
pummeling sound that numbed the senses. On this long-awaited
10" (originally to be released by Coolguy Records), EXFORK teamed
up with punk/metal producer Billy Anderson (producer to the
likes of Neurosis, Melvins, Jawbreaker, Logical Nonsense, Mr.
Bungle, Ratos De Porao, Sick of It All and Unsane, to name a
select few) to record the band's finest session. This record
is a tribute to the California underground and a must for anyone
who is a fan of this type of sound.

Fleshies
Fleshies, a political rock-n-roll five-some from Oakland,
CA, might be considered unpredictable in that they will answer
the same interview questions with different responses depending
on which magazine you're calling from, but they can always be
counted on to out-rock any of your favorite (fill-in-the-blank)
bands on the planet!!

Four Deadly Questions
Four Deadly Questions have a challenge for innocent ears and
jaded cranks: Are you walking the tricky and sometimes harsh
path of rock'n'roll righteousness, or are you feckless in your
musical choices and without devotion to loud amplified noise?

Four Letter Words
The four letter words were a troupe of Subgenii sent by Bob
Dobbs in the late 90's to ridicule this planet we call Earth
and all the Pinkies who inhabit it. The words have since decided
to rejoin their Master of Slack on Planet X. Listen to their
music and hear the not-so-subliminal messages unfold! You don’t
even need to play it backwards! For an in-depth interview, check
out MRR #203.

Holding Onto Sound
A year after self-releasing their debut album on the guitarist's
own No Label records Holding Onto Sound packed up their gear
and drove from Las Vegas all the way to Seattle to record their
brand new album "Songs of Freedom." The recording
session was conducted with producer Ben Kirsten (one of Sub
Pop's local engineers) at the helm and the results are as powerful
and memorable as their debut.

Jag Offs
With members of The Leeches, Killer Dreamer and the infamous
FYP, you know you’re in for a good time. According to the music
industry’s leading tour manager/roadie, Tito, “If you had even

Offs/Four Letter Words split.” So go get it, already, eh?!

Jack Killed Jill
Punk Planet describes Jack Killed Jill's latest album, “Hello
Neighbor” as good ol’ fashion punk-rock-n-roll: “I'm actually
surprised Jack Killed Jill isn't on Fat Wreck Chords or even
Cheetah's Records as they sound an awful lot like Tilt. I saw
them open for Dee Dee Ramone once, or it might have been Dillinger
4 – either way, they're a good live band; well versed in the
Ramones' school of rhythm... I can't deny Jack Killed Jill are
catchy as hell and I honestly can't stop my feet from tapping.”

Kill the Scientist
The Band Formerly Known as Kill The Scientist was an experimental
band that had been making noise since 1989. No one song sounds
alike and not one genre is ever presented. Bands they have been
compared to: Negativland, MRP, Throbbing Gristle and Crass,
to name a few.

Lipstick Pickups
Super sassy, lo-fi rock-n-roll from the heart of the Southern
California. This is what The Go-Go's would have sounded like
if they stayed in the garage. This three girl/one guy combo
will kick you down in the mud and then kiss your ouchies all
better.Their songs will leave you with a smile on your face
and their catchy melodies stuck in your head. If you dig female-fronted
bands like The Soviettes and think that The Donnas are overrated,
the Lipstick Pickups will be sure to please.

Mall'd to Death
Hailing from the Land of 10,000 Lakes Malls, Minneapolis,
Minnesota’s Mall’d to Death came to life in 2009 combining members
who have played in such bands as High Hopes, the Terrordactyls,
Off With Their Heads, and Triple Crossed. Their fiery brand
of melodic punk throws conventional pop songwriting techniques
out the window while delivering all the catchy hooks they can
pack into their short, punchy songs. Their 2010 debut full-length
Can’t Make a Living was recorded in DIY-fashion by the
band themselves and features artwork by Corey Ayd of Banner
Pilot.

Neckties Make Me Nervous
Neckties Make Me Nervous is a punk band. No bones about it
– they’re smart, they’re pissed off, and they’re not trying
to impress you with their technical prowess or woo you with
vague emo meanderings. They get in, attack, and move on to the
next song. With topics that range from the cyclical nature of
domestic violence and disgust at the U.S.’s rampant xenophobia
to a sense of voicelessness regarding the current occupation
of Iraq, they’re also not a band that’s going to be playing
vapid pop punk songs. Their debut 7-inch is a must have collectors
item with art by Keith Rosson as well as a record adapter, inserts,
stickers and a fully-packaged CD-R for those of you without
record players!

Pornshot
Fiona, bored with Scandinavian cloudy days, started the band
with some friends in the early '90s. After becoming well-known
for their energetic live shows and Fiona's unique style and
behavior (dressing up as a Japanese school-girl, screaming her
heart out while jumping up and down!!), the band went into the
studio and recorded some poppy gems. Pornshot even played at
a festival with the Prince of Norway in the audience. Afterwards
he came up to the band, got a t-shirt and thanked them for the
concert, saying he had enjoyed it very much. Cooler than cool!

Toys That Kill
Toys That Kill can best be described by this review in Shredding Paper from Jesse Luscious (Frisk/ex-Criminals): "Out of the ashes of
F.Y.P comes a band that's as melodically inviting and complex as Dillinger Four. Words and presentation are rock solid tough melodi-punk
with kick ass choruses and production, as well as words that occupy the middle ground between 8th grade poetry and Bad Religion's excessive
verbiage. In other words, they're heartfelt without being trite in either direction, and have the musical chops to back it all up!" Totally cool.
And they've also been known to go to Japan to play with pigeons. Even cooler.

Vlad and The Impalers

the brothers who were behind the ESL?! full-length we released
back in '02. Perfect for all the fans of ESL's pop-ridden hardcore
punk, the passion and angst are still there, but the tunes are
fresh and exciting.
